| school meetings |
the meetings was a 50/50 experience. one was really good and one was really not so good. the first one was a local meeting at first ave. it was on teacher development day so there where no kids at the school and lots of meetings. the one that i observed was a math teacher meeting, perfect for me. it was an interesting meeting and they stayed on the agenda. one central focus of the meeting was scores and all of them in an excel sheet. it was kind of sad that most of the teachers did not know how to use excel the right way the second meeting was long, boring, and pretty pointless for me. i guess it was nice to see a difference in styles of meetings. there was a lot of the public involved, probably around a hundred and more. i found that they did not really stay to the agenda and it was a lot of technicality and procedure. maybe if it was not so long it would have been more enjoyable. there were a lot of presentations and community involvement during the first part of the meeting. the part i liked best was when a few mothers got up and talked about their children being active in the school and its programs. |
